How to Get to Big White Ski Resort

You can get to Big White from Kelowna or the Kelowna International Airport by car, shuttle, or taxi. Big White Ski Resort is 56km (35mi) southeast of Kelowna and the drive typically takes less than an hour.

The closest airport to Big White Ski Resort is Kelowna International Airport (YLW). You can rent a car at the Kelowna airport from Hertz, Avis, Budget or Enterprise.

Be sure to book your ride in advance for a smooth journey.

Driving Instructions to Big White Ski Resort

If you are driving to Big White, please ensure you have good winter tires or chains on your vehicle. Winter driving conditions on mountain highways can be unpredictable and hazardous.

  1. Start in Kelowna: Begin your journey in the city of Kelowna, the largest city in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada.
  2. Take Highway 33: Once you arrive in Kelowna, you will drive along Highway 97 until you reach the Highway 33 intersection located near the north end of the city. Travel east on Highway 33 for 32km (20 miles) through picturesque landscapes until you reach Big White Road.
  3. Turn onto Big White Road: Once you reach Big White Road, turn left onto it. You’ll continue on this road for another 24 kilometers (15 miles).
  4. Arrive at Big White Village: After driving for around 1 hour, you’ll arrive at the central village of Big White Ski Resort. Here, you’ll find Central Mountain Check-In, hotels, and other amenities.

Some driveways are steep and can become very slippery. We recommend you park your vehicle in the Happy Valley parking lot if you feel uncertain about the ability to get up the driveway of your building on your departure day.

Additional guest parking is allowed in the Happy Valley Parking lot. You can get a parking pass from the Central Mountain Check-In Office in Happy Valley or The Village Center Mall in the main village.

Let’s Go Wine Tours Ski Shuttle

If you’re traveling in a large group, Let’s Go Wine Tours offers a shuttle service from Kelowna to Big White for $370, accommodating up to 12 passengers.

Prices are subject to 5% GST and 15% gratuity ($444 total). Additionally, there’s an option for a 1-hour grocery and alcohol stop for $80.

Discover Okanagan Tours

Discover Okanagan Tours provides a Private Big White Ski Shuttle from Kelowna for up to 10 passengers. They offer door-to-door pick-up and drop-off options and a 1-hour grocery stop along the way, or a grocer pre-order option.

Small Group (1-4 Guests): $596 per shuttle, with a minimum charge based on 4 adults.

Medium Group (5-7 Guests): $139 per adult, $109 per child (under 13).

Large Group (8 or more Guests): $129 per adult, $99 per child (under 13).

Big White Airport Shuttle

Big White offers airport shuttle services for the 2023/2024 winter season. Rates are $45 before tax.

Shuttles must be booked by 6:15pm (PST) 8 days before travel. Bookings made after this time are subject to availability. No changes allowed within 7 days of travel.

The shuttle operates daily with various pick-up times. Child safety seats are available upon request. Shuttle type is confirmed 7 days prior. Pets, except registered service dogs, are not allowed.

Big White Weekend Shuttle

Carpe Diem Tours offers a convenient round trip weekend shuttle service from Kelowna to Big White for day trips. The service operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the winter season.

Pick-up times are 6:30am at UBCO and 7:00am at Orchard Park Mall, with returns from Big White at 3:45pm. The round-trip rate is $50 per person plus tax.

Bookings are on a first come, first served basis, and reservations can be made through the Carpe Diem Tours website.

A taxi ride from Kelowna International Airport (YLW) to Big White Ski Resort typically costs around $160 (CAD). The journey takes approximately 1 hour.
